Sea View and ATLA are pleased to present, Ceramic Salon 陶芸サロン, a group exhibition that merges Japanese and Californian practices into a dialogue around the rich history and innovations of clay.
Ceramic Salon 陶芸サロン showcases an intergenerational range of traditional and contemporary craftsmanship, offering insights into how ceramic reflects and shapes cross-cultural narratives between Japan and California.
Spanning both galleries at Sea View, the ceramic works will be displayed on shallow shelves beneath the paintings by Brazilian artist Beatrice Arraes in her current exhibition Jogo de Mesa, which makes for an apt intimate pairing around materiality, time, and transformation.

In me, in me, in me..

Venue: CIBONE CASE (Ginza)
Artist in Gallery: 9.28. SAT 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Ricca Okano, a ceramic artist based in Nagano.
Last year at CIBONE, we described the colors in her works as afterimages projected behind the eyelids—colors that are unique, belonging neither entirely to dreams nor reality. In those colors, we found traces of her emotions.
For this exhibition, we asked her to explore the theme of "black." Even though it may seem simple to encapsulate everything into the term “black,” her interpretation of black is far more intricate. It is elusive and unreachable, requiring one to pass through countless layers of emotions and colors before reaching the depths of it. Her black possesses a mysterious beauty, much like the way stars gradually become visible in a clear, dark sky.
We refer to her works as “emotional fluctuation devices.” Beyond serving their functional purpose, her vessels act as touchpoints with human emotions. We invite you to experience the deep waves of emotion embedded in the clay and glaze, and to be drawn into the world of “black and color.”
